Learn how to sail at our courses!
Sailstar Sailing Center and Amarilla Sailing Club offers different levels of sailing courses for beginners as well as more advanced sailors.
Our popular basic courses is runned over four days with one backup day approximately on or two courses per month during the season
from October to April. We have many years of knowledge from sailing courses and have until today learned more than 3 000 people how
to sail.
The courses are four full days, starting at 9.00 ending at 17.00 with a longer lunch during mid-day. the course is both in theory and in
practice and we use our RS Zests, RS Neo and/or Sigma Active Ocean daysailors. We set up five days for the course whereof one day is a
spare day in eventuality of bad weather (read strong winds) for one day.
Our courses are equivalent to RYA courses level 1 and level 2. You learn how to sail a dinghy during these four full days and if you know how to sail a
dinghy you will be able to sail bigger boats, however, to handle them you probably need another course.
Weather and wind conditions
The weather at Tenerife during the winter is usually 20-25 degrees in the air and 20-22 degrees in the water. Winds can be quite stong, approx 20 knots are common.
Those days we start to sail earlier and then sail in the end of the day. You can borrow a wetsuit and boots from us
with no extra cost.
Accomodation
San Miguel marina is close to the Tenerife south airport (TFS). There are plenty of hotels and also AirBnB's nearby San Miguel marina.
We recommend santa Barbera Golf and beach Club and Aguamarina Apartments, both very close to our sailing centre in the San Miguel marina.
